The Department of Public Safety is seeking an individual to join the Technical Inspection Services (TIS) Branch as a Plumbing Inspector. With satellite offices throughout the province TIS is seeking an individual to provide inspection services to the Grand Falls inspection territory. The successful candidate may be assigned to other regions in the province depending on operational needs.
What you will do
As a Plumbing Inspector and a member of the TIS unit, the successful candidate will be responsible for technical inspection of plumbing and on-site sewage disposal system installations in accordance with the Plumbing Installation and Inspection Act and the Public Health Act, Regulations and various adopted codes and standards respectively. As the successful candidate, you will report to the inspection supervisor.
Work environment
- Office layout: small office/satellite
- Your Team: (9 inspectors)
- Work primarily from home and vehicle with touch down at office/satellite office periodically, for data entry, admin Assistance, etc.
- Standard hours of work: Monday - Friday, 8:15-4:30

Need to have (their essential skills and qualifications)
- 3 to 5 years experience as a Licenced Red Seal Plumber
- Valid plumbing licence
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.
- Successful candidates will be required to take provided training for on-site sewage disposal system installations.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and in French is required, please state your language capability

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: The following operational requirement(s) is also required:
- Valid NB Driver's licence
Nice to Have (their asset qualifications)
- Backflow testing licence and testing experience
- Cross Connection control training from recognized organization
- On-Site Septic experience
Subject to the response to this competition, candidates may be required to demonstrate on their application one or more of the asset qualifications in addition to the essential qualifications in order to be given further consideration.
Wage
Technical Services Inspector II - $2,341 to $2,948 Biweekly depending on education and experience.
