As a strategic business partner, the Human Resources branch is responsible for providing end-to-end HR support to over 1800 clients located across the province. These clients represent a variety of different business streams and services including the Office of the Attorney General, Justice and Community Safety, Legal Services, Technical Safety and Corporate Services, and Security & Emergencies.
What you will do
In the role of Human Resources Operational Team Lead, you will be a crucial member of our Human Resources Branch, reporting directly to the Assistant Director of Human Resources Operations. Your responsibilities encompass a range of operational support services vital to the efficient functioning of our team.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct support to client groups within JPS including:
- Consultation: Provide expert guidance and consultation on employee and labour relations matters, including grievances, employee misconduct, respectful workplace investigations, leave management, and Human Rights.
- Classification and Compensation: Oversee classification and compensation processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies and procedures.
- Employee/Labour Relations: Participate in labour management meetings, adjudications, and collective bargaining processes, guiding and supporting managers on various employee relations matters.
- Talent Acquisition: Assist hiring managers throughout recruitment processes for higher-level positions, including preparing job advertisements, screening applicants, completing interviews, and providing recommendations for the final selection.
- Performance Management: Provide guidance to managers as needed in areas of performance management.
Leading a small team of Human Resource Consultants
- Mentoring/Coaching: Provide guidance and recommendations to current Human Resource Consultants to enhance performance and inform advice to clients, as well as assist in the training of new Human Resource Consultants.
- Distribution of work: Triage and assign work that comes into a shared inbox to your team, ensuring timely and accurate responses. Monitor workloads to ensure balance within the team.
Your role as an Operational Team Lead will be integral to the success of our Human Resources operations, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
Work environment
- Office Location: Marysville Place, 20 McGloin Street, Fredericton
- Office Layout: Cubicles
- Your Team: A dedicated team of approximately 7 individuals, supporting a larger group of around 30 colleagues within the Human Resources Branch. You will be the Operational Team Lead for 2-4 Human Resources Consultants.
- Remote Work Opportunity: While primarily office-based, there is some flexibility for remote work within New Brunswick.
- Standard Hours of Work: Monday - Friday, 8:15 AM - 4:30 PM, with slight flexibility.

Need to have (their essential skills and qualifications)
- High School Diploma or GED;
- A four-year post-secondary bachelor's degree;
- A minimum of five (5) years of related work experience; and
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Successful candidates will be required to undergo a criminal history clearance and security clearance check.
An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Written and spoken competence in English and French is required, please state your language capability.

Operational Requirements: The following operational requirement(s) are also required:
- This position will require some travel within the province. Expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with the Travel Policy (AD-2801).
Nice to Have (their asset qualifications)
- CHRP designation (Certified Human Resources Professional)
- Experience in employee/labour relations
- Advanced experience using the MS Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat
- Experience using SharePoint and Smartsheet
- GNB Human Resources Experience

Wage
$2,450 - $3,422 bi-weekly
