Social Worker III, Temporary Full-Time (Approximately 12 Months)Mental Health and Addictions, McCurdy Complex, Gander
Definition of work:
The social worker is an integral member of the Flexible Assertive Community Treatment Team (FACT) that provides case management and intensive mobile services to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness and concurrent related complexities of mental health issues/disorders. In partnership with the client and team, the position is responsible for providing comprehensive assessments and support to individuals in establishing personal recovery plans as well as short and long-term goals. The incumbent will also take the lead role in supporting individuals and families using skills in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/ Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, concurrent disorders, harm reduction and recovery approach. The incumbent will adhere to standards for client services in accordance with the Canadian Association of Social Workers Code of Ethics, the Standards of Practice in Social Work, and the Social Workers Act of Newfoundland and Labrador. The successful applicant will consult and work in partnership with local employers, service providers, LIFEWISE and other community agencies in the provision of service to clients of the FACT team. This work is performed independently with strong links to community stakeholders and other staff within the FACT team.
Required qualifications:
* Masters Degree in Social Work with a clinical specialization required, supplemented by significant experience in providing community based mental health services.
* Current registration with NLCSW.
* 2 years' experience within the last 5 years working in an addictions and/or mental health setting.
* Knowledge of current community mental health assessment and intervention techniques
* Proven ability in providing counselling and education to clients with serious and persistent mental illness and their families
* Knowledge of mental illness and addiction from bio-psycho social perspectives, holistic and community approaches.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.
* Daily use of a private vehicle for employment.
* Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
Hours of Work: 75 hours bi-weekly (Shift work may be required)
Salary: CG-43 ($42.69-$50.35)
