About the Role

Reporting to the Regional Director and/or the Manager of Environmental/Laundry Services, the primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of housekeeping tasks to facilitate a safe, clean, and sterile environment at the Labrador-Grenfell Health Facilities. The Domestic Worker carries out duties which ensure that the environment is free from dust, soil, smears, dried splashes, litter, body wastes and other contaminates.
Qualifications:
" Graduation from High School or equivalent;
" Experience in janitorial work is an asset;
" Knowledge of the chemicals, cleaning practices, equipment and supplies used in the process is an asset;
" An equivalent combination of experience and training may be considered;
" Willingness to enroll in and complete the basic course in Environmental Services and Infection Control;
" Ability to work effectively with co-workers and other departments;
" Initiative to meet the written Goals & Objectives of the department using methods and products approved by the department under minimal supervision;
" Be in a state of health which allows effective performance of all duties within the job description;

Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Participate in applicable in-service and continuing education programs as offered and/or required;
" Dry and wet mop floors; vacuum carpets; clean walls, furniture, fixed and selected non-fixed equipment as per daily, weekly and monthly schedules and as otherwise assigned;
" Collect garbage as scheduled and as required;
" Cleaning/disinfecting of Patient/Resident's rooms and other areas of the Facilities;
" Cleaning/disinfecting of Dirty Utility Room walls and floors;
" Sorting of clean and dirty linens;
" Pick-up, sorting and processing of soiled items; plus the distribution of clean;
" Ordering Housekeeping supplies;
" Other related duties as required.

Salary:

" CG-19 of the NAPE HS Salary Scales, $20.45 to $22.07 per hour, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.

Hours of Work:
" 75 hours Bi-weekly; Variable Shifts.
