Location: Labrador City, NL

About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to provide transcription services for the permanent and visiting medical staff at the Labrador West Health Centre, as well as the provision of transcription on a regional basis, as needed. This position reports to the Stenography Team Lead.
Qualifications:
" Graduation from High School or equivalent;
" Successful completion of a two year Office Administration Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution;
" Successful completion of a practical medical transcription test may be required;
" Successful completion of an Advanced Medical Terminology Course;
" Effective communication skills and the ability to work co-operatively with clients, staff and the general public;
" Proficiency in the use of computers and word processing, printers, dictation equipment and photocopy machines;
" Ability to prioritize duties and work independently with limited supervision;
" Ability to perform medical transcription, utilizing a variety of specialized medical terminology;
" A proven ability to read, understand and interpret medical reports;
" Previous experience in a Health Records Department an asset, particularly as a Transcriptionist;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties: (Included but not limited to)
" Transcribes in a timely manner all discharge summaries, medical/transfer letters, operative reports and specialty clinic notes, utilizing the Fusion digital system to access dictation;
" Utilizes Meditech into which transcribed documents are entered in the Order Entry system;
" Utilizes Meditech to update the completion process of incomplete records;
" Performs final record analysis;
" Produces & distributes monthly physician's On-Call Schedule for the Emergency Room;
" Other related duties as required.

Salary:

" CG-26 of the NAPE HS Salary Scales, $24.54 to $27.16 per hour, plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.

Hours of Work:
" 75 hours Bi-weekly; Monday to Friday.
