Reporting to the Director, Business Partnerships & Workplace Health, the HR Business Partner coaches, influences and supports business leaders to effectively deliver their people plans. As a trusted advisor, the HR Business Partner collaborates with other HR specialist functions to provide stakeholders a consultancy service that delivers best practice and operationally-focused HR solutions. You will work to develop talent and leadership capacity, provide guidance and coaching to leaders on disciplinary and performance related matters, and act as an employee champion to identify and execute ways to build engagement, improve workplace relationships, boost productivity, and reduce turnover.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Own and grow the relationship with internal business units as well as the union, as the primary contact for HR
- Assess, anticipate and act upon HR-related needs
- Act as a point of contact where required for specialized HR service providers
- Provide guidance and coaching to leaders to support them in dealing with disciplinary and performance related matters
- Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency across the organization, related to HR processes
- Act as employee champion; identify and execute ways to build engagement, improve workplace relationships, boost productivity and reduce turnover
- Act as an effective leadership coach to guide, support and develop NSLC people leaders
- Work with leaders to develop talent and leadership capacity
- Leadership and participation in HR projects and initiatives
- Steward and support the attendance support program
- Provide input on workforce and succession planning as well as business unit structure
- Collaborate with colleagues in HR and other parts of the business to develop policies, programs, and solutions
- Mediate and resolve employee and labour relations issues, including grievances
- Lead the process of reviewing HR-related complaints such as bullying and harassment, conducting thorough and objective investigations where appropriate
- Ensure regulatory compliance with legal requirements pertinent to the day-to-day management of employees; engaging external legal support when necessary
- Provide guidance on HR policies and best practices, and interpret Collective Agreement language
Secondary Responsibilities:
- Maintain awareness of the culture, plans and financial position of the business
- Develop strong relationships across other functional leadership
- Assist hiring managers and Talent Acquisition team, participating in the interview and selection process
- Analyze data trends and metrics to inform business decisions

As a qualified candidate, you will have:
- Relevant undergraduate degree
- Post-graduate diploma/certificate in Human Resources or CPHR designation
- Minimum of 7 years of experience working in Human Resources, with progressive advisory experience
As the ideal candidate, you will also have:
- HR experience in both unionized and non-unionized environments
