The Provincial Cardiovascular and Stroke Program (CVSP) has a scope and mandate to deliver equitable access to quality cardiac, vascular, and stroke care throughout each of the five zones comprising NLHS. This innovative approach is a new paradigm in the treatment of these diseases including core cardiovascular and stroke clinical services; prevention and support of well-being throughout the lifespan and across the care continuum; and, the achievement of targeted, measurable, and sustainable clinical and operational improvements impacting cardiovascular and stroke outcomes in the province.
To fulfill its mandate, the CVSP works collaboratively with partners throughout the health authority, externally within the provincial health ecosystem, and beyond, to ensure a strategic approach that aligns CVS services, initiatives, and planning across zones. In partnership with key stakeholders, the CVSP works towards consistency, integration, efficiency, and system sustainability in the provision of quality cardiovascular and stroke care. The CVSP embraces an approach that is compassionate, person-centered, equitable, inclusive, integrated, and innovative, and seeks to embed continuous quality improvement in all its endeavors.
The CVSP is a provincial program within NLHS, it has co-accountability to the VP Medical Services and operational accountability to VP Transformation, Health Systems
Job Summary
NL Health Services is seeking expressions of interest for the position of Clinical Chief of the Provincial Cardiovascular and Stroke Program.
Consistent with NL Health Services mission, vision, values, and strategic direction, the CVS program Clinical Chief CVSP brings vision, direction, and strong leadership to this newly established role. Working collaboratively within a dyad partnership, the Senior Director and Clinical Chief are senior leaders and strategic champions within NLHS. Together, they lead the CVSP program in accordance with the strategic directions of NLHS and the operational and strategic objectives set within the CVSP.
Aside from a commitment to transforming health care delivery, driving organizational excellence, and ensuring high-quality service delivery, the Clinical Chief also provides subject matter expertise, medical and clinical guidance; liaises with stakeholders including Zonal operational partners; acts as a spokesperson for the program including public/media where appropriate; supports CVSP innovation initiatives; works with academic, research, and advocacy partners; and energetically engages in continuous quality improvement.
The Clinical Chief CVSP is a three-year term, renewable for a second term upon successful evaluation of term one. The Clinical Chief will work with the Senior Director to identify mutual availability to support activities and manage practical/logistical considerations supporting the CVSP.
Qualifications:
- Eligible for membership of the medical staff of NL Health Services.
- Experience and academic preparation in cardiac, vascular, and/or stroke medicine.
- Previous leadership experience in the delivery of quality cardiac, stroke, and vascular care.
- Leadership experience in health care management/administration, quality improvement, epidemiology, and/or other relevant areas.
- Demonstrated contribution to academic and research pursuits.
- Demonstrated commitment to CVSP advocacy, provincial health care transformation, and innovation are assets.
Remuneration: A stipend of $95,000 will be provided for this position based on 2 days per week,1 fixed day and 1 flex day.
