SCHEDULE: Day, 8 and 12-hour shifts. Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Regional Manager of Correctional Health Services, the incumbent works with various health and public safety professionals and provides expertise and clinical leadership in mental health and addictions to all team members. The incumbent is responsible for directing and educating as well as implementing and providing mental health and addiction treatment services. The incumbent shares expertise and knowledge in the field. The incumbent works with the department's lead nurse to ensure that the interdisciplinary team runs smoothly.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Member in good standing of the Nurses Association of New Brunswick (NANB);
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing;
  • Three years' experience in mental health or addiction services;
  • Certificate in mental health or addictions or ability to obtain it within set deadlines;
  • Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate;
  • Basic non-violent crisis intervention course (CPI), theory and practical component or ability to obtain it within set deadlines;
  • Certification suicidal behaviour management (ASIST) or ability to obtain it within set deadlines;
  • Good knowledge and use of Word and the Meditech system;
  • Use of individualized and client-centred care approach;
  • Clinical judgment;
  • Leadership, communication and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to adapt to change;
  • Ability to facilitate clinical programming meetings;
  • Ability to impart knowledge;
  • Adherence to mental health and addiction recovery principles;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned work;
  • Good work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network's management philosophy and organizational values;
  • Adherence to the Network's confidentiality rules.
