ABOUT THE ROLE

We are inviting applications for the role of Accountant, from individuals who are self-motivated, focused, eager to learn, and enjoy working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Your contribution to the Finance Team will be underpinned by your attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Reporting to the Director, Finance & Pension Administration, you will play a key role for the Finance Team in supporting financial operations, managing payroll processes and benefit programs, and ensuring efficient business operations.

YOUR KEY ACTIVITIES WILL INCLUDE

· Prepare monthly and quarterly financial statements including notes to financial statements, various accounting summaries and reconciliations

· Process payroll and administer group benefit, employee defined benefit pension and RRSP programs, ensuring accuracy and timely payments

· Evaluating, developing and improving internal processes to ensure efficient business operations

· Oversee day-to-day accounts payable activities, including processing and payment of invoices and expense claims

· Maintain the general ledger accounts by preparing and posting journal entries, accruals and reconciling accounts

· Maintain bank account records, reconciling bank accounts and balances and monitoring daily cash flow

· Support year end external audit process

· Prepare quarterly Statistics Canada filings

· Prepare quarterly HST filings and annual reconciliations

· Other relevant duties as assigned

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE

· A Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Finance or equivalent education or experience

· Five years of experience in a relevant accounting position

· Strong understanding of financial principles and accounting standards

· Two years experience in payroll processing and group benefit administration

· Broad understanding of the preparation of financial statements

· A high standard of professionalism and confidentiality in handling sensitive information.

· Detail orientation, independent worker with excellent time management and organizational skills

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)

· Proficiency in accounting software, Sage preferred, and Microsoft Excel

SALARY

Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.
