Job Summary
The Creative Arts Therapist (Clinical Art Therapist) is a solo, highly autonomous, position responsible for independently developing and coordinating the inpatient art therapy program for the youth Mental Health and Addictions program. This will include incorporating art therapy into the interdisciplinary setting and working collaboratively with other health care professionals.
This position is responsible for planning, designing, implementing and evaluating client-centered art therapy services; maintaining professional standards of practice, and participating in decision making as part of the interdisciplinary team.
This position reports to a Manager of the Mental Health and Addictions program and maintains accountability to the Regional Professional Practice Consultant responsible for Art Therapy for professional integrity and practice issues.

Visual concentration is required to monitor client issues and observe facial/body cues.
Auditory concentration is required to listen to patient commentary during therapy sessions.
Job Qualifications
Graduation from an approved/recognized Master's Degree in Art Therapy is required.
Registration with (or eligible to be registered with) the Canadian Art Therapy Association (CATA) is required.
Experience in Art Therapy assessment with individuals, families and groups with a specific focus on adults with complex mental health needs in a mental health setting is required.
Demonstrated ability to deliver clinical education sessions and provide clinical direction and consultation within an interdisciplinary environment.
Exhibits strong communication, program development and evaluation skills.
Possesses proven analytical, critical reasoning, collaboration, problem solving, decision-making and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to effectively translate and communicate knowledge in the specialized area of art therapy to others.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within an interdisciplinary environment and provide clinical consultation.
Ability to work autonomously, prioritizing caseloads and client needs.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain a constructive working rapport with clients.
Demonstrated strong awareness of ethics.
A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required.
