Registered Nurse IC - Surgical Services

The primary purpose of this position is to work as an active member of the perioperative team to provide specialized nursing care within Surgical Services at the Labrador Health Centre. The Registered Nurse is responsible for maintaining professional and organizational standards while practicing in accordance with the LGH Model of Clinical Nursing Practice and reports to the Clinical Nurse Manager.

Qualifications:

" Graduation from an approved/recognized school of nursing program is required;
" Current and continuing practicing licensure with the College of Registered Nurses of Newfoundland and Labrador (CRNNL) is required;
" Surgical Services education program or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer);
" Successful completion of NRP,ACLS,TNCC, or willingness to complete (within timeframe designated by employer);
" Breastfeeding education/course;
" Current certification in Basic Life Support;
" The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Duties: (Include but not limited to)

" Provide safe nursing care to clients in the Endoscopy and Surgical Suites, and Day Surgery;
" Complete an accurate record of care throughout the client's stay in Surgical Services;
" Complete inventory of unit narcotics and controlled drugs;
" Be familiar with the operation of the equipment in the endoscopy and operating suites, and day surgery;
" Assess equipment function and report malfunctions;
" Maintain a safe level of supplies;
" Other related duties as required.

Salary:

" NS-31 of the RNUNL Salary Scales, $41.79 to $51.66 per hour plus the applicable Labrador Allowance.

Hours of Work:

" 75 hours bi-weekly: variable shifts, on- call required.
