Job Summary
Applications are invited for Sterile Supply Technician positions with NLHS-Central Zone for various sites/departments.
The Sterile Supply Technician is responsible for all duties associated with the collection and distribution of patient care items and the decontamination, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilization, handling and storage of patient care medical equipment and supplies. The Sterile Supply Technician is also responsible for reprocessing scopes in the Endoscopy Department. All responsibilities are carried out in adherence to professional standards, manufacturer's instructions and departmental policies and procedures.
The successful candidate must demonstrate an awareness of and be responsible for promoting and supporting person-and family-centred care, demonstrate a commitment to safety and partner with all team members to improve worker and patient safety by integrating safety into work practices, identifying risks and implementing improvements.

* Constantly moves/lifts 10-25lbs; occasionally lifts/moves up to 50lbs. Push/pulling with medium forces (22-44lbsF).

* Work Environments present potential for exposure to scented/chemical products and/or other allergens within publicly accessible areas. Potential for exposure to blood, bodily fluids and/or other contagion
Required qualifications:
* Graduation from high school with a diploma recognized by the Newfoundland & Labrador Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
* Successful completion of a Sterile Supply Technician course approved by Central Health.
* Demonstrated communication skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work independently.
* Demonstrated ability to problem solve.
* Consistent demonstration of the core values of NL Health Services: Innovation, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence (I CARE)
* A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position
* A satisfactory Certificate of Conduct from the RCMP or local police authority.
