Position: Afterschool Program Assistant

Location: Wulastukw Elementary School

Department: Education

Term: Part-Time during the school year - Full-Time during the summer

Overview:

The role of the Afterschool Program Assistant will be to facilitate various activities that promote physical activity, healthy eating and nutrition, positive personal development, and wellness; and to engage and support school aged children and families in our community.

Responsibilities:

· Provide assistance with supervision of children.

· Create a welcoming, safe, and positive environment where children can engage with peers.

· Help plan and implement activities and programs that support as well as promote the cultural, physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.

· Develop and maintain a positive relationship with children and their families.

· Assist in implementing program plans that are tailored to the children's needs and abilities.

· Complete tasks requested by the Afterschool Program Coordinator

Requirements:

· Certification in Early Childhood Education preferred or demonstrated ability in dealing with children.

· Current First Aid and CPR certification

· Criminal Record Check

· Vulnerable Sector Check
