Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac, located in Yarmouth NS, is home to 79 long-term care Residents. We are a provincially funded, non-profit organization that provides 24/7 care. Villa Saint-Joseph has a strong interprofessional team and a new facility (opened in 2015) which allows us to promote a safe, clean, home-like environment for our Resident and care partners.
Responsibilities:
The primary purpose of this position is to serve Residents by attending to their medical needs throughout the day, evening and night. The incumbent provides guidance and support to CCA Staff and provides leadership within the scope of practice. The LPN will perform a variety of duties in Villas as directed by the Director of Care. All responsibilities are to be approached in a spirit of teamwork, within and among departments, to ensure cooperation and completion in an efficient manner. The underlying responsibility is the care and safety of each Resident. The tasks required in fulfilling the responsibilities of this position, and the day-to-day routines/schedules for completing these tasks, are secondary only to ensuring the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of each Resident are met. The incumbent of this position is to work under the direction of the Mission Statement, Values, Standards, Policies, Procedures and Resident-Centered Care Philosophy of the Villa Saint-Joseph du Lac.
Qualifications:
• Currently registered with NSCN
• Capable of and willing to demonstrate empathy, understanding, respect, courtesy and politeness towards all Residents, visitors and staff
• Physically capable of performing all duties
• Neat and clean in appearance
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding Resident affairs and Villa business at all times
• Ability to maintain good attendance and varied availability
• Previous experience in Nursing in a supervisory capacity
• Capable of functioning independently and as part of a team
• Available to work a variety of shifts including morning, afternoon, evening, overnight, weekends and holidays
This is a unionized position and is bound by the CUPE Collective Agreement.
