Newfoundland and Labrador Health Services, Western Zone is seeking the services of a salaried Psychiatrist at Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital (STRH), 142 Minnesota Dr, Stephenville, Newfoundland and Labrador. This position is responsible for inpatient and outpatient Psychiatry services. This position is one of eight (8) responsible for Psychiatry Services at both STRH and WRMH. The position requires a demonstrated ability to, demonstrated experience working within an interprofessional practice model, and experience working in inpatient and outpatient settings. Experience working with patients with complex needs and treatment resistance would be an asset. On call is scheduled on an equitable basis with the other members of the Discipline.

Sir Thomas Roddick Hospital is a 44-bed acute care hospital offering 24-hour emergency room service. The hospital is located approximately one hour's drive away from Corner Brook where Western Memorial Regional Hospital, a 171-bed regional referral centre, is located, and provides services to a population base of approximately 78,000 people in western Newfoundland.

We are affiliated with Memorial University of Newfoundland and Labrador Faculty of Medicine and we encourage and support academic interests.

Qualifications Required: Medical Degree, eligible for licensure as a Psychiatrist with The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Newfoundland and Labrador (CPSNL), Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certified or eligible and satisfy the credentialing requirements of NLHS, Western Zone's Discipline of Psychiatry. A minimum of 2 years experience in related work is an asset.

Hours of Work: 80 hours biweekly plus on-call obligations

Remuneration: The Specialist Salary Scale ranges from $263,672 - $285,596 as outlined in the current Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The Department of Health and Community Services in accordance with Provincial Guidelines will officially determine a Physician's step assignment with yearly progression thereafter. An annual Retention Bonus is offered in accordance with the current MOA. Additional benefits for relocation and housing costs are available.

Located in scenic Bay St. George, the Town of Stephenville has a population of 7,200 and is the service center for a catchment area of approximately 25,000. Stephenville has choice state of the art recreational facilities, all of which are located in a very close proximity; the Regional Aquatic Centre, Stephenville Dome, West Coast Training Centre, Whaleback Nordic Cross Country Ski Trails, Caribou Curling Club and the 18-hole Harmon Seaside Links Golf Course.
