Hours 75 bi-weekly (8 hour days) Salary NS-35 ($51.29 - $63.65 per hour)

Job Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (Adult or Family/All Ages) -The HIV Coordinator is accountable for directing the care of HIV/AIDS clients within Newfoundland & Labrador. The NP functions with advanced preparation in nursing and medical science. The NP encompasses the roles of practitioner, educator, researcher, leader, and consultant within the regulated scope of practice and CRNNL standards. As a member of an interdisciplinary health care team, the NP is both autonomous and collaborative in nature.
The NP is the primary contact for access to HIV services provincially. The NP is required to function within a high degree of autonomy in identifying & managing complex client care needs. The NP assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the provincial HIV service. The NP provides consultation within the specialty area of practice at the client, health care team, and organizational level. The primary goal is to ensure continuity and coordination of timely and quality client care.
Job Demands

Constantly moves, lifts, or operates equipment/machinery up to 10 lbs. and regularly is required to lift/move equipment, books, and supplies. Occasionally, may have to reposition a patient over 50 lbs.
Physical effort also includes regular sitting to conduct patient histories, performing work on the computer and when assessing patients, regularly stands or walks.
When performing procedures, regularly uses fine finger/precision work and hand tools (i.e. medical instruments, computer mouse, stethoscope, dopplers, etc.) requiring accurate control and steadiness.
Visual concentration is required when performing physical assessment and procedures, completing charts/reports, observing patients, reading equipment/monitors, and completing work-related correspondence on the computer.
Job Qualifications
Completion of an approved/recognized Nurse Practitioner program is required.
Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of NL and Licensed (or eligible for licensure) as a Nurse Practitioner (Adult or Family/All Ages) with the CRNNL.
Clinical experience in adult acute care services is an asset.
Current BCLS Certification is required.
Possess strong abilities in the areas of collaboration, clinical reasoning, professional development, interpersonal effectiveness, conflict management and teamwork.
Demonstrated progressive clinical leadership skills.
Possess strong communication, problem solving, decision-making, and teaching skills.
Demonstrated ability to function autonomously in an advanced practice role.
Support and participate in research to improve practice and client outcomes.
Demonstrated skills in computer and database management skills.
A satisfactory record of work performance is required.
