Course Title: EDUC 4703 WI01 - Teaching Physical Activity and Healthy Living Education II
Contract Term: December 15, 2023 - April 30, 2024 (Winter)

Course Description: This advanced course will investigate how to design, deliver and assess an innovative and inclusive physical education program in junior, middle and high schools in the 21st century. Pre-service teachers will develop an understanding of research and practices examining how physical literacy and movement competency represents the foundation for lifelong participation and enjoyment in sport/recreation/active lifestyles. Prereq: EDUC 4313 or KINE 3143 or equivalent.

Qualifications: The successful applicant must possess an M.Ed. or higher qualification in a relevant area. A record of academic expertise in relevant and contemporary theories related to advanced curriculum and instruction in physical education. Current and relevant professional experience with contemporary approaches to teaching advanced curriculum and instruction in physical education is required. Recent experience as a school-based educator is preferred. Recent experience designing, delivering, and assessing a teacher education course at a university level is preferred. Successful recent experience working independently and as part of a team is essential. The B.Ed. is a provincially accredited program. Applicants will therefore be expected to teach and collaborate within the contexts of accreditation requirements. Recent experience teaching EDUC 4313 will be considered an asset.
