DEPARTMENT: Psychiatry and Pedopsychiatry (Intergrated Crisis Response Services in Emergency Department)

CLASSIFICATION: Social Worker 1 (SW01) - (Emergency Department) (2 positions)

STATUS: 1 permanent full-time position & 1 permanent part-time position

FTE : 1 x 1.0 & 1 x 0.6

ANTICIPATED DATE: As soon as possible

HOURS OF WORK:

8, 10 and/or 12 hours shifts - Rotation
Work schedule may be changed to meet operational needs.

JOB SUMMARY:

Reporting to the manager of psychiatry for the zone, the successful candidate will provide full services to clients with various mental health issues. This person will work as part of a multidisciplinary team and perform the following duties in particular: assessment, crisis intervention, diagnosis, treatment, individual, family and group counselling, prevention, and health promotion and awareness.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Member in good standing of the New Brunswick Association of Social Workers;
  • Experience in mental health or addictions would be an asset;
  • Training on the prevention and management of suicidal behavior or obtain it upon hiring;
  • CPI non-violent intervention techniques or obtain it within the set deadlines;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Clinical judgment and good analytical skills;
  • Leadership and good decision-making skills;
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Adaptability and flexibility;
  • Good organizational skills and ability to set priorities;
  • Willingness to travel within the zone;
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member;
  • Ability to form effective partnerships with the community network;
  • Ability to offer group sessions to clients;
  • Physical ability to perform assigned duties;
  • Good previous work history (performance and attendance);
  • Adherence to professional ethics principles, the Network management philosophy, and organizational values;
  • Compliance with the rules of confidentiality established by the Network.

Written and spoken competence in English and French is required.
