Standard Work Hours: Mon - Fri | 7:30 am - 4:00 pm | 40 hours per week
Additional Working Conditions:
- May be in or out of doors under varying conditions.
- May involve work at heights or in tunnels.
Salary Range: $28.22 per hour
YOUR FOCUS
Reporting to the Carpenter Shop Foreperson, the Carpenter is skilled in maintenance and construction work in the carpentry trade at the Journeyperson Level.
- Work as a Carpenter alone or as a member of a crew employed on maintenance or construction.
- Prepare job estimates as to the quantity of labour and materials required to complete the job.
- Allocate and supervise the work of Trades Helpers and/or Labourers.
- Perform elementary duties of another trade to expedite the completion of the assigned task.
- Apply appropriate safety precautions.
- Ensure minimum hazard to self and others.
- Care for and preserve assigned tools and equipment.
- Perform other related duties as required.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Formal basic education as required by the N.B. Department of Labour to meet Journeyperson standards for the Carpentry Trade.
- Must possess a valid current license to practice the Carpentry Trade.
- Three years or more diversified experience at the Journeyperson level in the Carpentry Trade with concentration on maintenance.
Additional Strengths:
- Able to read and interpret drawings and to work from sketches and diagrams.
- Ability to work with other tradespeople, and versatility in handling and use of tools of the trade.
- Must be thoroughly familiar with the National Building Code and the New Brunswick Health and Safety Act.
