Responsibilities

What you will be doing…

As Administrative Assistant, you will provide a full range of administrative support services to the Manager, Administrative Services. Duties will include but are not limited to, ordering books for upcoming semesters, communication with faculty regarding books needed, returning books not sold, assisting with purchasing, cashiering, providing support to students and assisting with their inquiries, providing support to accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Though this role has a primary focus on Bookstore operations, the successful candidate will be fully cross trained to support our administration and student services teams.

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:

  • The minimum educational qualification for this position is a post-secondary certificate or diploma in Business or Office Administration combined with a minimum of two years' recent and related experience in a fast-paced office environment. Or you have the recognized equivalency of a high school diploma with significant (10+) years of administrative experience.
  • Occupational experience in the following would be considered an asset:
    • Working in a retail environment, preferably a book store
    • Operating Point of Sale Systems
    • Handling cash, debit and/credit transactions, refunds
    • General inventory processes in a retail environment
  • You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and E-mail. Experience using Bookware software would be considered an asset.
  • You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology in advancing your work.
