THE JOB
This is a full cycle accounting role where the individual will perform general accounting duties as well as providing support to the Controller with reporting, financial analysis, and ad-hoc finance tasks.
- Manage accounts receivable including invoice distribution, managing late accounts, applying payments
- Manage accounts payable functions
- Process payroll
- Perform bank reconciliations
- Prepare and file government remittances such as source deductions and workers compensation premiums
- Maintain general ledger accounts by performing account reconciliations and maintaining working papers
- Support the Controller with month-end and year-end activities including preparing fixed asset depreciation, preparing accruals for review, analyse company performance as a whole and at a disaggregated level
- Support the Controller with the annual budget process
- Secure financial information by completing database backups and keeping information confidential
- Maintaining financial records such as maintaining filing system, preparing appropriate transaction support
- Assist with management reporting and financial analysis using Sage 50 and our internal operational system
- Create management reporting and analysis working papers and tools to help operational units make financially informed decisions
- Other ad-hoc requests as required

REQUIREMENTS
- High attention to detail
- Advanced Excel skills
- Ability to work efficiently in an independent role while supporting the larger team
- Highly professional and values the need for confidentiality
- Displays strong communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Sage 50 is considered an asset
- Experience in a similar role or bookkeeping is considered an asset
- Post-secondary education in business and/or accounting is considered an asset
