As the Leasing Coordinator at FMI, you will provide first-class leasing support to our team and excel at providing top quality work while thinking independently and being proactive in anticipating the needs of the company. Reporting directly to our Chief Mergers, Acquisitions and Leasing Officer, your time as a part of FMI's close-knit legal team will be fast paced, challenging and fun! With over 400 locations in 19 jurisdictions, this role provides the opportunity to be challenged and professionally stretched while doing work throughout North America.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the North America portfolio of leases, including renewal notices, purchase options, assisting with the negotiation of rents and renewal terms
  • Providing first-class support to our Chief Mergers, Acquisitions and Leasing Officer, including drafting documents and correspondence
  • Working directly with our project management team in collaboration with new store builds, renovations and relocations
  • Working directly with our shareholders on all leasing related inquiries
  • Working directly with our North American field team and being the first point of contact between restaurant managers and landlords
  • Working directly with our Finance team with respect to the payment of rents and year end reporting
  • Managing Common Area and Maintenance reconciliations
  • Managing Property Tax reconciliations
  • Assisting our Chief Legal Officer, and Associate Counsel, with various legal related leasing matters
  • Serving an important role in our constant merger and acquisition activities
  • Proactively anticipating the needs of the legal department and the company
Qualifications
  • Strong writing and grammar skills with attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
  • Superior critical thinking skills coupled with strong problem solving skills
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Time management skills with a demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience with working with leases would be a significant asset
  • Graduate of a Paralegal diploma program or significant work experience in a law firm or corporate legal department would be an advantage
  • The ability to speak french would be an asset
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Exceptional computer skills, specifically Microsoft Word and Excel, with the ability to learn new software quickly
  • A positive team player with a 'can-do' attitude who is committed to excellence, interested in stretching their professional abilities, and passionate about continuous improvement
