UTILITY WORKER

*** Surrette Battery offers very flexible shifts, on a permanent, non-rotating basis. In general, all manufacturing employees work 3 or 4 days a week. ***

We are currently looking for a Utility Worker to join our team. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, our ideal candidate has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

A Utility Worker at Surrette Battery is a full or part-time position that duties may involve, primarily, general factory cleaning, production work, and maintenance. The position may also require a fair amount of physical labour and handling of tools, equipment, materials as well as products up to 45kg (100lbs).

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cleaning factory and equipment, common areas
  • Waste removal
  • Assist in maintenance duties
  • verifying condition and weights of materials and products
  • cleaning work areas and equipment as well as performing other labouring and elemental activities

ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to the Maintenance Supervisor

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Forklift experience an asset
  • WHIMIS or First Aid tickets, (asset, however, training will be provided)
  • Demonstrated ability to follow safe work practices and procedures
  • Able to problem solve and use critical thinking and decision making skills
  • Able to follow oral and written directions
  • Able to function well in a team environment and to communicate clearly with others
  • Being flexible and adaptable
  • Having a proactive/preventive approach
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Being punctual and reliable
  • Experience in a similar environment would be a definite asset
