CMHA-NL is currently seeking a motivated and energetic fundraising professional for the role of Fund Development Coordinator. The position of Fund Development Coordinator focuses on developing relationships between CMHA-NL and the community including private corporations, while implementing, facilitating, and managing fundraising strategies and initiatives. This primarily includes maintaining a donor database of active donors and prospect donors, with an emphasis on timely and strategic actions in order to maximize revenue to fund CMHA-NL's various mental health initiatives and programs.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer of CMHA-NL, the successful candidate's responsibilities include: identifying, evaluating, cultivating and soliciting appropriate prospective donors; drafting donor correspondence, gift agreements, briefing notes, basic proposals and other written materials as needed; developing and successfully achieving fundraising goals; planning and executing a coordinated program for donor relations; enhancing the relationship between donors and CMHA-NL through strategic stewardship; analyzing and reporting donor-driven data and providing status reports for the CEO and Board of Directors as needed; supporting the Board's Fund Development Committee; and performing other related duties as required. The successful candidate will work closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator on the implementation of donor retention strategies, current and future donor engagement, and event coordination. Willingness and flexibility to work some non-traditional hours for signature events is required.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works in collaboration with Marketing and Communications Coordinator to develop and execute short-term and long-term development goals, ensuring increased revenue year-over-year.
  • Strengthens and expands revenue development opportunities with existing donors through cultivation and implementation of strategies.
  • Recruits new corporate donors and develops customized stewardship strategies.
  • Ensures all fundraising initiatives and donor cultivation is in keeping with relevant CMHA-NL core values, practices, and mandate.
  • Collaborates with National and Divisional staff as appropriate in fulfilling the mission, strategy and goals of CMHA-NL.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with stakeholders (National Office, volunteers, suppliers, sponsors, donors, media, and community liaisons) to ensure efficiency and effectiveness of all fundraising initiatives.
  • Utilizes Blackbaud Etapestry, and Canada Helps to input and track donor activities.
  • Utilizes high degree of creativity in the development and design of marketing and promotional material including PowerPoint presentations, flyers/brochures, and other material, and works closely with the Marketing and Communications Coordinator to generate necessary assets and materials.
  • Acts as an ambassador and spokesperson for CMHA-NL, specifically when communicating with the media, donors, stakeholders, and the public during information booths and events.
  • Continuously works to increase awareness of CMHA-NL through all contacts and business interactions through relationships, marketing, and promotion.
  • Recruits, engages and retains qualified volunteers to meet organization's priorities and managers volunteers accordingly.
  • Works with Manager of Corporate Finance to determine expense projections as part of the budgeting and forecasting process.
  • Supports the Fund Development Committee of the Board of Directors of CMHA-NL.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience (2-5 years) in a fund development, business development, sales and/or sponsorship related role, preferably in fundraising in the education or not-for-profit sector.
  • Graduation from a college or university, or equivalent combination of relevant experience.
  • Persuasive and productive communication, diplomacy and negotiations skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain productive donor relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively forge, manage and maintain long-standing stakeholder relationships.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising activities, donor relations and relationship management.
  • Manage multiple projects from conception to completion within tight deadlines.
  • Work both independently and within a team.
  • Proven ability to take initiative and carry projects to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to exercise sound judgment in relations with a diverse group of volunteers, staff, clients, other agencies and healthcare professionals, suppliers and the general public.
  • Demonstrated financial experience or general financial management skills to meet/exceed revenue targets.
  • Knowledge of philanthropy and employer sponsored volunteerism in the corporate giving sector an asset.
  • Strong MS Office skills (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
  • Written and oral communication skills.
  • Goal-focused with the ability to close gifts and achieve fundraising targets.
  • Customer service experience and sales skills considered an asset.
  • CFRE designation or working towards is considered an asset.
  • Have experience with event planning from inception to execution.
