The Advisor, ERM will be an integral part of the CRC's small but dynamic corporate ERM team, tasked with overseeing and supporting the growth and development of CRC's risk management framework and activities. Under the general direction of the Deputy Director, ERM, the Advisor will support the development and implementation of ERM activities across the organisation, including the ERM framework (risk registers, capacity building activities, coordination, planning and reporting). The ERM Advisor will work in collaboration with key risk management focal points accross the organisation (Risk Champions Network) and will help support the reporting of risk management activities both to senior management and the Board. This role will require someone who is curious, proactive, thinks strategically, is comfortable working as part of a team, has strong analytical and communication skills, has an interest in learning new content as well as an ability to navigate ambiguity, particularly during CRC crisis response periods. While having risk management and project management skills is certainly an asset, this role will consider persons who have the identified qualities as well as an interest to learn and develop in a dynamic and society valued environment.
The ERM Advisor will report to the Deputy Director, ERM.
In this role, you will work on:
Risk Champions Network
  • Supporting and management of the functional Risk Champions network including support to risk meetings, monthly coaching sessions, onboarding activities dissemination of relevant communications and support for reporting requirements.
  • Supports the development and dissemination of capacity building documents and learning sessions in support of the enhancement of the Risk Champions Network and according to the ERM workplan and priorities. In collaboration with Deputy Director, ERM.
  • Responsible for the management and update of the ERM SharePoint page.
  • Working with Risk Champions, ensures functional network is aligned with service lines catalogue and CRC structure.
  • Participation and support in the annual risk management planning activities, in collaboration with the Deputy Director, ERM.

Operational Risk Register
  • Responsible for supporting and managing operational risk registers (including quality management) used by service lines to identify their risks.
  • Responsible for the monitoring and reporting of the operational risk portfolio, including provision of data analysis and trends for the development of risk reports.
  • Supports the development of documents and tools to support the knowledge and risk maturity across the organization, in collaboration with the Deputy Director, ERM.
  • Manages and oversees the ERM database including update, testing, review of data.
  • Manages the implementation and roll-out of ERM software (if approved), including software management.

Enterprise Risk Management
  • Provides support for the development of ERM capacity development activities to enhance risk management maturity and culture across the organization.
  • Provides support for the development of ERM documentation and meetings.
  • Supports the Deputy Director, ERM in the management of the strategic risk register, including reviewing and ensuring that mitigation activities are properly formed, monitored, and reported on.
  • Develop and maintain the ERM function data analytics and reporting, including development of tracking and reporting mechanisms, including the production of regular reports (quarterly and annual).
  • Coordinate and work closely with key stakeholders from other service lines or functions (for example: incidents).

We are looking for:
  • University degree in risk management with a minimum 5 years of experience in risk management or a combination of education and experience that would be considered equivalent.
  • Certification and strong experience in project management is an asset.
  • Fluency in English required. French is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Red Cross or not for profit organizations.
  • Knowledge and experience in emergency management is an asset.
  • Strong analysis and report writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of excel and Microsoft suite to be able to analyses data and provide trends.
  • Ability to lead meetings, good facilitation skills, and good collaboration skills.
  • Strong relationship building skills.
  • Self-driven and able to work independently, dealing with ambiguity and reprioritize tasks in response to unexpected changes (flexible).
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Curious and willing to learn.

Working conditions:
  • The majority of work is performed in a remote setting, work from home.
  • Full vaccination against COVID-19 is mandatory for this position and operation (the CRC will however adhere to its duty to accommodate those who are unable to be fully vaccinated for a reason related to a human right protected ground)
