We are currently recruiting a full time Human Resources/Crewing Manager to be based out of our Saint John, NB office.

In this exciting role, the successful applicant will be an integral part of the senior leadership team of Norbulk UK.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Oversee the efficient operation of all crewing department activities
  • Ensure positive employee relations
  • Recruitment & selection of crew and office personnel
  • Align corporate strategy with Canadian office and ensure all policies and procedures are compliant with Canadian law
  • Build & maintain crew schedules
  • Ensure all Canadian flagged vessels are manned with qualified personnel as mandated by Transport Canada
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory requirements to ensure Canadian flagged vessels and manning office are operated and maintained in full compliance with all Class, Flag Administration, Governmental and International Regulations including the Marine Occupational Health & Safety Act, Canada Labour Code and the Maritime Labour Convention (MLC)
  • Approve & design wage scales and conditions of employment
  • Prepare and control manning budgets
  • Administer the company's training requirements & Employee Engagement Survey
  • Partner with Marine community colleges/schools to place cadetships
  • Ship visits as required
  • Manage and oversea crew appraisals, and performance management system

Some travel may be required, and being on call occasionally will be required.

Our ideal candidate has strong communication skills, has a 'solutions oriented attitude' and has at least 5+ years of Human Resources experience ideally in the transportation industry or the Marine sector. A professional HR designation would also be considered an asset.
