PAL Airlines is currently seeking qualified applicants for a Part-Time Permanent Ramp Attendant in Deer Lake, NL.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To load/unload all aircraft in accordance with the loading/unloading instructions contained within the Ground Handling manual;
  • Ensure appropriate equipment is available to facilitate the offloading and loading of passengers and cargo;
  • Complete the daily inspection of all ground handling equipment;
  • Maintain the occurrence log on a daily basis annotating all relevant information regarding aircraft delays, equipment serviceability etc.;
  • Comply with the relevant Health and Safety policies;
  • Communicate with customers to determine needs;
  • Process cargo for shipping and perform pick-up and delivery of cargo as required;
  • Perform general office duties as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be able to work flexible shifts including picking up shifts on short notice for additional flights, charters and vacation/sick leave coverage;
  • Must have a clean certificate of conduct and be able to obtain Transport Canada Security Clearance;
  • Valid Driver's License with a clean Driver's Abstract;
  • Ability to lift weight handling up to 50lbs;
  • Excellent communication and organization skills;
  • Excellent problem solving and decision making skills;
  • Ability to work with others.

Responsibilities
  • Promote sales to existing clients, as well as identify and solicit potential clients for route penetration and launch; via cold calling, networking functions, and existing client relationship management;
  • Develop and implement sales plans to achieve territory objectives for all PAL Airlines, Air Borealis, PAL Aviation Services and MFC (PAL) as directed by the Director and VP;
  • Respond to client inquiries, requests or issues. Working with various internal departments to ensure customer needs are met;
  • Identify and assist in the development of product improvements for PAL Airlines scheduled service and cargo operations;
  • Prepare proposals/bids, analyze current sales records, related business trends, and market development that demonstrates the benefits of PAL;
  • Support VP and Director of Sales in responding to RFP's and ensure appropriate process is followed when putting forth new opportunities for bid;
  • Communicate effectively with the Director of Sales to develop contracts that meet client needs, while achieving PAL objectives;
  • Maintain strong relationships with key customers, travel agency partners, aviation services providers and provide ongoing support;
  • Identify and assist in the execution of new sales and marketing strategies;
  • Work with the Charter management group on leads, sale execution and market development;
  • Work with the Marketing Division in executing sales campaigns and community events;
  • Work within Amelia and the GDS systems to support clients;
  • Involvement with community or industry organizations is considered an asset. Groups aligning with target markets considered especially attractive;
  • Travel to other markets for sales;
  • Track commercial, cargo and charter account performance and identify ways to maximize client revenue potential;
  • Attend trade shows, networking functions and other industry events to promote the aviation group and to build meaningful community and client relationships;
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A Degree/Diploma from a recognized Educational Institution in Sales/Marketing or equivalent experience;
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and French;
  • Direct sales experience would be an asset;
  • A positive motivating attitude;
  • The ability to develop and maintain an excellent rapport with clients;
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills;
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills;
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of Products;
  • Travel throughout our route network is required.
