The salary scale for Professional Support 3 is based on twelve steps that range from $30.00/hr - $41.94/hr. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $36.01 per hour
For the 2021-22 Academic Year, based on public health guidelines, NSCC plans to return to more in-person learning, supports and services. You may be required to work on campus, remotely or a combination of both as the Academic Year begins and progresses. This will be clarified further upon hire.
What you'll be doing...
The Program Coordinator - Quality will report to the Academic Chair - Nautical Institute. The Program Coordinator - Quality, in collaboration with the School of Trades and Transportation, maintains and oversees the Nautical Institute's Quality Assurance system to ensure that training activities, evaluation and record keeping is conducted in accordance with Transport Canada regulatory requirements and the approved Quality Management System (QMS).
This position will maintain and oversee the NSCC Nautical Institute's (NI) Quality Assurance system to ensure that training activities, evaluation and record keeping is conducted in accordance with Transport Canada regulatory requirements. It is important the position be at 'arm's length' from a regulatory oversight perspective, and will ensure a close connection to Academic Development, ensuring curriculum aligns with Transport Canada standards.
The position will also maintain documentation and oversee the 5S+S systems for the Nautical Institute, OH&S issues, shop inspections including vessel and davit inspections and wave tank inspections.
The position is based in Port Hawkesbury, but support may also be required for the School of Fisheries, community based training and training at other NSCC sites

Qualifications and Occupational Experience:
- The minimum educational qualification for this position is a Red Seal or a post-secondary credential in a related discipline to quality control such as Business Administration, Engineering or Quality Control management. Certification in quality assurance/Six Sigma will be considered an asset.
- You have a minimum of 5 years of recent and related occupational experience in quality assurance and quality management systems (QMS).
- Occupational experience that includes quality assurance work in the marine transport industry would be considered an asset.
- You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite and E-mail.
- You are comfortable working in a digital environment; you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.
