In your role as a Payroll Advisor, at The North West Company (NWC) you will provide payroll services to NWC and NWCI to meet deadlines and service levels.

Your Role:
  • Ensures accuracy of personnel information required to pay, terminate, promote, rehire, or change, within deadlines and service levels;
  • Working as a team, assists other team members with the timely completion of payroll activities to close the payroll period, month, and/or year;
  • Investigates pay issues and accurately process off-cycle payments according to procedures and in a timely manner;
  • Calculate and complete remittances for approval to regulatory bodies by deadlines;
  • Internal reporting and balancing of payroll general ledger for all banners.

Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Post-secondary education in a related field or willingness to enroll in payroll courses is preferred;
  • Minimum 3 years' experience administering end-to-end internal payroll complemented by general office experience required;
  • Basic accounting knowledge General Ledger accounting for payroll is an asset;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel required;
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills in order to effectively interact with internal and external customers;
  • Excellent organizational time management skills and proven ability to meet tight deadlines working under pressure;
  • Strong analytical and problem resolution skills;
  • Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information effectively and professionally;
  • Knowledge of company HR policies and procedures is considered and asset, and;
  • Ability to communicate in French would be an asset.
