Solo With Supports Group Care Support Staff - Relief
Solo With Supports Group Care Transition Homes are programs that aim to support young people learn the skills to live full and complete lives in our community. The young people living in our group care homes can have status with the Alberta government through either Family Supports for Children with Disabilities (FSCD), or Children and Family Services. Our program prepares young people to either return to living with their families or to transition to adult living situations and adult services (i.e. Persons with Developmental Disabilities).
The Chimo SWS Program is currently seeking Part- time/Relief staff.
The above positions require a diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care or a related field.
Requirements of the position include, but are not limited to:
Building relationships with young people through a holistic lens
Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice
Knowledge, implementation and participation in Service-Team Work
Collaborating, creating, and implementation of in-house youth programming
Daily documentation and report writing
Collaborating with your team to ensure best practices for the young people
Physical Requirements
Successful candidates will be physically able to:
Climb stairs repeatedly.
Lift a maximum 50lbs without assistance.
Assist in household tasks including regular housework, meal preparation, cooking, and driving youth to appointments.
Help maintain both the inside and outside of the home in compliance with OH&S standards.
Participate in recreational activities with the young people such as basketball, baseball and hiking
Successful candidates will:
- Demonstrate care and compassion for young people through a holistic lens
- Possess a strong understanding of working with young people and adults who live with challenges in a variety of areas, including developmental disabilities, mental health, attachment and connection, addictions and barriers to accessing community resources.
- Possess strong teamwork and communication skills.
- Have proficiency with computers, writing daily notes/logs and report writing.
A current (within 6 months) police or RCMP criminal record check and Alberta Child Intervention Record Check are required upon hire. Ability to be added to Chimos fleet insurance will also be a requirement of the position, which includes 3 years driving history with no at-fault claims and $2 million liability insurance and no more than 2 current convictions on your abstract.
