Job Overview:
We are seeking an innovative Automation and Process Engineer to lead the development, implementation, and optimization of automated manufacturing systems. This critical role ensures advancements in safety, quality, productivity, and cost efficiency across our operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Spearhead automation initiatives, from evaluating and procuring equipment to its integration and qualification within manufacturing processes.
  • Strategize and lead the transformation of traditional manufacturing into cutting-edge automated systems, driving automation adoption across the organization.
  • Deliver expert technical insights into automation controls, process management, and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Elevate workplace safety by refining equipment and process designs.
  • Enhance equipment performance and operational efficiency through continuous improvement efforts targeting OEE, productivity, quality, and cost metrics.
  • Drive smart manufacturing integration via planning, budgeting, and the implementation of visual management tools.
  • Collaborate on long-term process development, capital investments, and cost optimization strategies.
  • Engineer innovative solutions to strengthen process control and product quality standards.
  • Partner with departments like Production, Maintenance, Purchasing, and external suppliers to coordinate project timelines and activities.
  • Execute complex engineering designs, oversee installations, manage costs, and assess project outcomes.
  • Stay at the forefront of automation technologies, identifying and capitalizing on opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation equipment issues, ensuring uninterrupted workflow and minimizing downtime.
  • Empower teams through consultation and guidance, embedding Lean Manufacturing principles and ABS techniques into daily operations.
  • Provide training and mentorship to employees interacting with automated systems, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Remain updated on advancements in automation, electrical, mechanical, and control technologies, inspiring progress and change.
Core Qualifications:
  • Diploma or degree in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technology from a recognized institution.
  • At least 5 years of proven experience in automation or controls, including design, programming, project execution, and troubleshooting, within manufacturing or industrial environments.
  • Authorization to work in Canada without visa sponsorship (employment eligibility verification required).
  • Hands-on experience with industrial control systems, including analytics, digital devices, and programmable logic controllers.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing principles, methodologies, and applications.
Preferred Experience:
  • Expertise in HMI and PLC software platforms such as Rockwell Automation and Siemens.
  • Skilled in integrating devices via protocols like TCP/IP, serial communication, and proprietary interfaces.
  • Familiarity with smart digital and analytical technologies.
