This position currently reports directly to the Office Manager. You'll represent our positive company image when communicating internally and externally, providing exemplary service to co-workers, management, vendors, and others to help sustain a cohesive environment throughout the organization. You are comfortable with information technology and are capable of learning new software easily, and may even have previous experience using a digital payroll system platform. Detail-oriented – you know that names, numbers, and dates are important, along with spelling, grammar and punctuation. And because you're thorough, you get the details right the first time. A great communicator – you take care to understand and be understood, bringing clarity to the situation at hand. You know how to tailor your vocabulary and tone to suit the context and audience. Positive – you see opportunities in problems, and your bright outlook has a positive influence on the people you work with and the outcome. Professional – you are reliable and respect deadlines, produce accurate work, and strictly uphold confidentiality of employee and company information. What you bring: * Experience in general human resources, including employee training, preferably in an industrial labour environment * Familiarity with occupational health & safety administration, including WSIB claims management * Knowledge of ESA, AODA, OHSA, WSIA, and other employment legislation * Experience processing or assisting with payroll functions; previous use of Ceridian Dayforce considered an asset * Understanding of payroll legislation and payroll cycles * Confidence using Microsoft Word, Excel, and digital document software (pdf) * Superior communication skills, both spoken and written * Pride in confidentiality and professionalism * Commitment to process improvement and personal development * Maybe a secret family recipe to contribute to one of our delicious potluck luncheons! What you get This is a fixed 12-month contract position based on 40-hour weekly schedule, with a starting wage of $23 to $25 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience. Some occasional travel is required and supported for team building and training. We offer group benefits, including health coverage.
