Geotechnical Engineer
Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage geotechnical site investigations and designs, including site characterization of soil and rock, foundation recommendations, and construction support throughout all project phases.
Prepare comprehensive technical reports, design specifications, proposals, and project documentation.
Conduct geotechnical hazard assessments (e.g., seismic, slope stability, flooding, and undermining).
Perform shallow and deep foundation designs, including settlement and bearing capacity analyses.
Design MSE (Mechanically Stabilized Earth) walls, temporary shoring systems, and provide excavation stability assessments in accordance with WorkSafeBC guidelines.
Oversee marine and land-based piling assessments and designs (asset).
Utilize industry-standard geotechnical software such as GeoStudio (Slope/W, Sigma/W), Rocscience (Slide2/3, Settle3, Rockfall), ReSSA, MSEW, and GEO5.
Manage quality assurance programs and coordinate construction monitoring during earthworks and concrete operations.
Collaborate closely with team members and clients to ensure timely and cost-effective project delivery.
Balance multiple projects while meeting deadlines, budget requirements, and company quality standards.
Degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Geological Engineering.
Registered (or eligible for registration) as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC).
Minimum of 10 years of geotechnical engineering experience, preferably with local BC knowledge.
Proven project management experience, from planning to execution of infrastructure or construction-related projects.
Proficient in technical report writing and experienced in using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.).
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a collaborative team in office and field environments.
Valid Class 5 Driver's License and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
Experience working on construction sites, particularly in earthworks and concrete construction, is an asset.
