The opportunity

BKL Consultants Ltd. is seeking an experienced, full-time Operations Manager to lead and optimize the internal business functions that support our acoustical consulting team. This is an exciting role for someone who thrives in a dynamic, collaborative environment and has a track record of operational leadershipespecially in professional services or consulting engineering.

Who we are

BKL Consultants is Western Canadas leading acoustical consultancy. Since 1966, weve provided expert advice on acoustics, noise, and vibration to architects, builders, consultants, developers, facility owners, and governments. Our 30-person team includes engineers, scientists, and administrative staff who collaborate on award-winning projects across the region.

Were guided by our vision that the role of acoustics is embraced in all the places we work, live, and play. As Operations Manager, youll ensure our internal processes align with this visionfreeing up our consultants to focus on great work.

What youll do

As Operations Manager, youll lead and improve the business functions that keep BKL running smoothly. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing the day-to-day operations of internal business functions:
    • Business development and marketing support
    • Office administration and internal systems
    • IT operations and vendor relationships
    • Contract and legal documentation processes
  • Partnering with the Finance Manager on budgeting and resource planning including conducting budget reviews and reporting cost forecasts to the leadership team
  • Collaborating with the leadership team to execute strategic process improvement initiatives and project workflow enhancements
  • Ensuring operational activities are efficient, on schedule, and within budget
  • Delegating work and overseeing performance of administrative staff and managing service provider relationships
  • Assisting project teams with operational support and planning
  • Supporting HR tasks such as onboarding and team coordination

Plus, you need the following

  • 10+ years of proven success in an operations management role, ideally in a business management in a consulting engineering or professional services environment
  • Bachelors degree (or equivalent) in operations management, business administration, or related field
  • Strong budget planning and financial oversight skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of an organization
  • Familiarity with internal systems such as marketing tools, office platforms, contract processes, and IT coordination
  • A proactive, can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Proficiency in conflict management and business negotiation processes
  • Knowledge of business productivity software and an aptitude for learning new applications
