Job Title:

Fiberglass Technician Assistant

Job Function:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Fiberglass Technician Assistant to join

our marine services team.

Perform maintenance checks and necessary fiberglass repairs or installations on all

houseboats with reference to the Quality System and fiberglassing SOP. Perform

fiberglassing repairs, fixs or construction requirements on the houseboats. Ensures all

houseboats are operating as required and to the standard as dictated by the Quality

System and Twin Anchors Houseboats expectations. To ensure the houseboats are

able to leave dock on-time with all systems and maintenance/ fiberglassing repairs are

completed before departure.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform sanding, grinding, filling, and shaping of fiberglass materials.
  • Repair and replace damaged fiberglass panels, decks, and hulls.
  • Mix resins, hardeners, and catalysts; apply using appropriate techniques (e.g.,hand lay-up, vacuum bagging).
  • Apply gel coat finishes, colour matching as needed.
  • Collaborate with other technicians, marine mechanics, and painters to coordinaterepairs.
  • Ensure all repairs meet safety, durability, and cosmetic standards.
  • Document repairs, materials used, and time spent on each job.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship.
  • Perform body repairs on boats using fiberglass and resins.
  • Perform dent removal, panel replacement, and other body repair tasks.
  • Prepare boats for painting by sanding, priming, and masking areas.
  • Replace or repair damaged parts and ensure proper fitment.
  • Inspect boats for additional damage and document necessary repairs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Physical ability to work in tight spaces, lift heavy objects, and stand for extendedperiods.
  • Work as a team member with all Twin Anchors crew in responding to concernsrelative to maintenance issues
  • Ensure work areas are clean and that safety issues with houseboats are reportedto the management team
  • Repair or replace equipment and structures as required
  • Monitor supplies and communicate needs through the Purchasing Supervisor orparts department staff
  • Inspections of vessels: Inspect boats to assess their condition, noting any maintenance issues.
  • Complete maintenance tasks for additional work on TO DO Maintenance list.
  • Performs other duties or support to co-workers as the pressures dictate withinthe Twin Anchors environment

Team Support and Other Duties:

  • Collaborate with team members: Assist colleagues with dock operations, and anyother tasks that may arise, especially during busy periods.
  • Assist with other duties: Provide support as required within the Twin Anchorsoperations, adapting to changing demands and assisting with tasks to ensuresmooth marina operations.

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • One year of experience in maintenance related, electrical/ plumbing, or construction
  • Ability to operate a variety of tools and equipment relative to construction,electrical or plumbing
  • Basic knowledge of power tools and safety equipment.
  • Strong communication skills: Ability to interact with guests, team members, and supervisors clearly and professionally.
  • Physical stamina: Ability to be on your feet for long periods and performphysically demanding tasks, such as lifting and moving equipment.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities

Preferred Knowledge/Experience:

  • Knowledge of other boat repair systems (e.g., woodwork, painting, plumbing) is a bonus.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training.
  • Familiarity with boatyard operations and marine safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of houseboats or similar vessels: Familiarity with Twin Anchors fleetor similar houseboat models is preferred.
  • Knowledge or previous fiberglassing experience

Working Conditions:

Employment Type: Full-time Seasonal

Work Schedule:

  • Schedule (April-Oct); Monday- Friday. Based on experience for winterwork as we do renovations throughout winter. 8 hour shift, Weekends asneeded

Compensation:

Pay: $20-$25 per hour based on experience

  • Expected hours: 40 per week
  • Ability to commute/relocate: Sicamous, BC: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
  • Location: 675 Old Town Road, Sicamous, British Columbia, at Twin Anchors Renovations Tent or 200 Old Town Road West at Twin Anchors Houseboats (Old Town Bay Marina)
