This position is funded through Canada Summer Jobs by Service Canada. As per the funding guidelines from the Canada Summer Jobs Program, this job opportunity is available to candidates who must be between 15 and 30 years of age inclusive at the start of employment. POSITION SUMMARY:
The Child & Youth Activity Worker provides support to children and youth with developmental disabilities to ensure access and opportunities for community activities, peer connections and full participation in the leisure activities of their choice during the summer. The Child and Youth Activity Worker will work closely with children and youth with extra support needs, their families, staff of the Family & Individual Support Program and community service providers including local parks and leisure programs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Courses in human and social services such as: Classroom and Community Support (CCSW); Psychology, Early Childhood Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Social Work, Child & Youth Care.
- Experience with children, youth, or adults with developmental disabilities, recognizing and respecting peoples diversity, individual differences and perspectives.
- Demonstrated ability to plan and implement individual and group recreation activities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
- Experience working with groups and understanding the dynamics of groups.
- Good interpersonal skills
REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to obtain a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record check
- Current First Aid/CPR certificate
- Some positions may require a valid BC Driver's License and use of a personal vehicle

Positions are available both in the Tri-Cities and New Westminster
HOURS OF WORK/TERM OF EMPLOYMENT/WAGE:
- June 23, 2025 - August 29, 2025
- 35 hours/week - Monday to Friday - 8:30 AM - 4:00 PM
- $20.84/hour
