Position Summary:

The Buyer-Planner I shall collaborate with Fleet Maintenance Operations to review and process purchase requisitions of materials/services at the right order quantity, the required lead-time and according to the organization's procurement standard operating procedure. Buyer-Planner I will engage with both maintenance and purchasing supervision to support sourcing plans, any special projects/programs and execute tactical actions within the supply chain.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a continuous supply of materials and services by placing and managing purchase orders
  • Engage with suppliers on basic negotiations & pricing oversight to ensure a competitive supply chain
  • Collaborate closely with Buyer-Planners II / III, maintenance staff and suppliers on warranty recovery
  • Be facilitators of inventory systems set-forth by the procurement organization
  • Monitor, record, and manage inventory of purchased components within assigned areas of responsibility – including year-end inventory reconciliation
  • Ensure compliance with the company's standard purchase terms and conditions, and continuously communicate these requirements to suppliers
  • Assist maintenance technicians with parts dispensing to fulfill repair work-orders and perform inventory reconciliation
  • < 3% travel for emergencies – may need to retrieve parts from suppliers or a cross-campus location
  • Additional duties assigned by management may apply

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree in any area of study is required, preferably in business
  • At least one (1) year of purchasing and/or material planning experience, three (3) years preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems preferred but not required
  • Relevant knowledge of service center for medium/heavy duty fleet, equipment & parts management
  • Excellent communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to aggregate and analyze large data set.
  • Strong working knowledge with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
