Your Role:
A school bus driver ensures the safe and timely transportation of students to and from school, as well as school-related activities. Their responsibilities include:
- Safety First: Maintaining a safe driving environment, following all traffic laws, and ensuring students are seated and secure.
- Time Management: Adhering to scheduled routes and timeframes while accommodating unforeseen delays.
- Student Supervision: Managing student behavior onboard, creating a respectful and orderly atmosphere.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Performing pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus is in proper working condition, and reporting any issues.
- Communication: Coordinating with parents, school officials, and dispatch for updates or emergencies.
Above all, a school bus driver plays a critical role in fostering trust and safety for students, parents, and the community.
Requirements
Your Profile:
- Safety-Focused: You prioritize safety in all aspects of your role.
- Valid Driver's License: You hold a minimum full G-class driver's license. Preference will be given to applicants with a Class B or E license.
- Age Requirement: You are 21 years of age or older.
- Clean Driving Record: You are a safe driver with a spotless driving record.
- Clear Background Check: You can provide a clean criminal record search and/or vulnerable sector screening.
- Regional Knowledge: You live in and have a strong understanding of the region and surrounding areas.
- Independent Worker: You have the ability to work effectively on your own.
- Shift Availability: You are available for shifts Monday to Friday, approximately between 6:30 AM – 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM (start and end times may vary based on the route).
- Strong Communication Skills: You possess excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills. (B1 to C2)
School Bus Driver Rates (Rates may incease in September)
The rate for the position depends on the size of vehicle you're driving.
- Mini-yellow, and wheelchair routes - $21.00/hour
- Minivan routes - $20.15/hour
- Base rate (the rate you will be paid when working but not driving a school route) - $19.00/hour
Your location:
Our main office is located at 573 Admiral Court in London, but we're looking for drivers drivers to cover school routes in the Woodstock area! Some of these routes will stay within the city limits, while others may take you a little outside before heading back. Because routes in this area may take you our of Woodstock, applicants should be comfortable driving on highways, even in difficult weather conditions.
If you have a little extra room in your driveway, or if you've received the green light to park a bus at home, you're welcome to take the bus home with you! If that's not an option for you; we also have several park-out choices available in Woodstock.
