Job Summary:

As a skilled labourer in our restoration team, you will play a critical role in bringing properties back to their pre-loss condition. This position requires a highly motivated and physically capable individual who is not afraid of hard work and can perform under challenging conditions. The role involves heavy lifting, working in various physical positions, and driving company vehicles, including during adverse weather conditions such as snow.


Responsibilities:
  • Perform physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and maneuvering heavy items (50+ lbs) regularly.
  • Drive company vehicles to various job sites within and around Cranbrook, BC, including during snow and other adverse weather conditions.
  • Execute tasks involving bending, kneeling, and working on your knees for extended periods, such as during floor removal, installation, and detailed cleaning operations.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and work closely with other team members to complete restoration projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Assist in the preparation and cleanup of job sites, including the removal of debris and damaged materials.
  • Perform additional duties as required, including but not limited to basic construction, demolition, and cleaning tasks.
  • Maintaining a neat and orderly company vehicle, if assigned.
  • Working collaboratively with all departments applicable to the role.
  • Communicating with customers, the field team, the project management team members, and co-workers.
  • Adhering to the company's health and safety policies.
  • Helping set up and transport flood-related equipment, such as pumps, vacuums, hoses, dehumidifiers, etc., and following instructions to ensure proper placement.
  • Assisting in water extraction using proper equipment under the guidance of flood technicians.
  • Removing damaged materials, including different baseboards, door casings, drywall, insulation, and flooring.
  • Detaching bifold doors, interior doors, exterior doors, sliding doors, and sliding doors with a mirror.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting areas to prevent mould growth to achieve a hygienic environment (i.e., wiping surfaces, applying antimicrobial treatments, and using specialized cleaning agents).
  • Helping with the setup and monitoring of drying equipment, such as dehumidifiers and air movers.
  • Collecting and disposing of debris generated on-site.

Compensation

Wage: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour (based on experience)

Requirements:
  • Physically fit and capable of performing heavy lifting and working in various physical positions.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and comfort driving in all weather conditions, including snow.
  • Previous experience in restoration, construction, or a related field is an asset but not required.
  • Strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Commitment to safety standards and procedures.
  • Availability to work on-call for emergency response outside of standard work hours, including evenings and weekends, on a rotational basis.
  • Ability to load and unload wheeled industrial dehumidifiers weighing 130 – 140 lbs.
  • Passing a criminal record check and a driver's abstract check based on our approval.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, communicative, and strong listening skills.
  • Providing great customer service.
  • Ability to work well alone as well as in a team environment.
  • Construction and or restoration experience is considered an asset.
  • IICRC WRT certification is considered an asset.
