Dream is looking for a Health & Safety Coordinator
As a Health & Safety Coordinator, you will report to the Manager of Health and Safety and play a vital role in fostering a strong safety culture across our organization. You'll collaborate with property management teams, site superintendents, and contractors to ensure compliance with health and safety standards while promoting safe work practices. This role involves occasional travel across Canada.
What Will You Do?
As our Health & Safety Coordinator, you'll be the safety champion who keeps our projects running smoothly and our teams working confidently. Here's how you'll make an impact:
- Set the Standard: Lead safety orientations and ensure every team member understands Dream's commitment to a safe and healthy workplace.
- Stay Ahead of the Curve: Conduct proactive site safety inspections, identifying hazards and suggesting practical, actionable solutions to keep everyone safe.
- Be the Voice of Safety: Deliver engaging safety talks and toolbox meetings, inspiring a culture where safety isn't just a requirement—it's a mindset.
- Manage the Unexpected: Respond swiftly and effectively to incidents, working with the Manager of Health and Safety to investigate and implement preventative measures.
- Drive Compliance: Collaborate with site teams to ensure full adherence to OHSA legislation and Dream's National Health and Safety Program.
- Keep Us Connected: Maintain and update eCompliance software, tracking audits, inspections, and incidents to ensure every detail is covered.
- Train for Excellence: Coordinate training sessions that empower our teams with the knowledge and tools they need to stay safe and confident.
- Champion Continuous Improvement: Analyze accident data, spot trends, and recommend forward-thinking strategies to make our health and safety programs even stronger.
- Be Everywhere: Conduct site audits across our residential, office, and industrial properties, bringing your keen eye for detail and passion for safety to every corner of the company.
- Foster Teamwork: Lead Health and Safety Committee meetings, inspiring collaboration and a shared commitment to our safety goals.
What Type of Experience Should You Have?
We're looking for candidates with the following qualifications and skills:
- A post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or a related field.
- A valid driver's license.
- 3-5 years of experience in a safety-focused role, ideally as a prime contractor/constructor representative.
- Familiarity with Certification of Recognition (COR) programs.
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and safety laws and regulations.
- Experience managing claims through WSIB/WCB.
- Exceptional people skills, including relationship-building and collaboration.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask effectively.
- National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) certification or equivalent is an asset.

- This role requires travel across Canada (25-35%).
