The Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the Production Manager will be an integral team member, responsible for liaising between the Estimating and Repair Teams to devise a plan for the delegation and facilitation of the required work in this established independently owned/operated Collision Centre. A skilled Estimator and Leader, capable of managing their own files while simultaneously leading the Production Plan, this Senior Collision Repair professional will be accountable for the safe, efficient and cost-effective repair of all vehicles in the shop through the streamlining of detailed and accurate repair reports that enhance repair results, customer service and the company's overall financial results.
This is a full-time, on-site position located in Delta, BC. Only current residents of Greater Vancouver with reliable transportation to and from the Delta area will be considered, as relocation assistance and/or international sponsorship are not offered at this time.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- 3+ years working in a hands-on Leadership position within the Automotive industry is a MUST!
- 5+ years' experience as a Collision Estimator or Service Writer is required. Training on the Collision Repair Plan process will be provided for skilled and experienced Service Writers who possess the necessary leadership capabilities
- Community College or Technical School Diploma is considered an asset
- Highly organized with a strong background in planning, research and time management
- Proven ability to effectively delegate and lead a diverse team
- Exceptional customer service and communication skills
- Expertise in detailed and comprehensive report writing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with Mitchell & Audatex estimating software is a definite asset
- Collaborative approach to working with both in-house teams and external contacts
- Current repertoire of technical language and estimating trends within the industry
- In-depth knowledge of ICBC's web services
- Established network of ICBC technical and compliance contacts
Responsibilities of the Position
- Manage customer in-take, follow-up and communication with a small group of your own files
- Conduct research through a variety of resources to ensure the most accurate estimates and subsequent bodywork is completed
- Regularly inspect and monitor repairs being completed to ensure alignment with respective estimate
- Proactively seek out industry updates, product and systems knowledge
- Manage technical and administrative functions related to the estimate including all technical information, repair plans and use of parts ordering programs
- Establish and maintain 3rd party relations with B2B contacts and suppliers
- Coordinate communications and services with ICBC
- Streamline writing standards for in-depth repair plans amongst Estimator team
- Ongoing assessment of workload daily, crafting and adjusting Production Plan, as needed
- Foster cross-department communications and follow up regularly to ensure maximum efficiency is maintained
- Actively participate in maintaining the overall facility, health and safety standards and best business practices
