Custom Castings is actively seeking a Maintenance Mechanic/Millwright to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional who can work independently and in collaboration with others to keep our equipment running safely and efficiently — with a strong emphasis on fabrication and welding.

We're not just another foundry — we're a modern, integrated manufacturing facility specializing in high-quality aluminum and zinc castings. Our plant combines traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge machining and automation, and we need skilled tradespeople like you to help us stay at the top of our game.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a wide range of equipment, including:

    • CNC machines

    • Melting furnaces

    • Overhead cranes

    • Hydraulic systems and pneumatic tools

    • Casting machinery and auxiliary equipment

  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on all critical systems and assets to minimize downtime.

  • Fabricate and install parts using advanced welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick); modify or create custom components as needed.

  • Conduct routine inspections, adjust machinery and document maintenance activities.

  • Respond to emergency breakdowns quickly and efficiently — day or night, weekday or weekend, when required.

  • Interpret mechanical drawings, technical manuals, and schematics to support repairs and upgrades.

  • Collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and quality departments to maintain optimal production flow.

  • Assist in the design and execution of custom jigs, fixtures, safety guards, and machine upgrades.

Qualifications & Skills Required:
  • Red Seal Journeyperson Millwright Certificate (or equivalent trade certification).

  • Proven experience in equipment maintenance and repair in an industrial or manufacturing setting.

  • Extensive fabrication and welding skills are required (fitting, layout, structural modifications).

  • Solid understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems, including troubleshooting pumps, valves, and cylinders.

  • Able to read blueprints, technical diagrams, and use precision measuring tools.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Must be physically able to lift heavy equipment and work in tight or elevated spaces.

  • Availability for night shifts and weekend work as needed.

What You'll Enjoy:
  • $2000 Signing Bonus – just for joining our team.

  • 4-day work weeks (10-hour shifts) for better work-life balance.

  • Competitive salary, based on experience and certifications.

  • Full benefits package, including health, dental, and life insurance, plus pension program and RRSP matching.

  • Boot and safety gear reimbursement.

  • Modern shop environment with a strong focus on safety, continuous improvement, and teamwork.

  • Ongoing technical training and advancement opportunities within our growing organization.
