The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Metals Division for a Temporary (4-month term) Process Operator. The Process Operator will be accountable for the daily activities of plant operations to continually meet the business objectives of safe, efficient, and effective production in the Metals and Cobalt units. In this position, the successful candidate will be accountable to operate process equipment on a continuous rotating twelve-hour shift.
This position will also require physical labor and is a temporary role expected to be for 4 months and is subject to change.

In this role, you will be accountable for:

  • Monitoring key operating parameters to ensure safe and efficient operation of plant equipment.
  • Performing routine field level equipment inspections to verify and monitor operation.
  • Collecting and analyzing process samples that are used to control process quality.
  • Maintaining housekeeping standards in operating units.
  • Operating automated control systems (DCS).
  • Troubleshooting process, circuit, or equipment deviations to mitigate variable process conditions or safety issues.
  • Preparing process equipment for the execution of maintenance or process conditions.
  • Participating in procedure and operating standard reviews and updates.
Skills and attributes for success:
  • High School Diploma is a requirement.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license is a requirement.
  • 3-5 years related industrial experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience is an asset.
  • Fourth Class Power Engineering Certificate issued by ABSA is an asset.
  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills, with good mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
