Job Summary
The Distribution Centre Coordinator (DCC) is responsible for the management and execution of all distribution centre operations and will assist in leading a professional distribution team in continually meeting changing operational and customer demands.
The DCC is responsible for coordinating the preparation of all outgoing shipments and ensuring order accuracy while maintaining excellent customer service, assisting in directing the storage and handling of products and inventories and in ensuring proper documentation of all incoming, out-going and warehoused material. They are also responsible for ensuring that all Health, Safety and C-TPAT policies are followed.
The DCC's responsibility encompasses both the warehouse, outside storage and yard area with a strict focus on inventory management and the flow of goods throughout the warehouse. They will work in collaboration with other departments to ensure the success of the DC operation. This is a hands-on role occasionally requiring assistance with day-to-day functions & activities.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Ensure all out-bound and in-bound orders are shipped or received on time and meet Hamilton Kent's shipment safety, service, quality and C-TPAT standards:
- Management and execution of workbench software to ensure On-Time Customer Delivery for all out-bound shipments and stock transfers within an SAP-EWM warehouse environment
- Utilize SAP Tools – Handling Unit management, Wave and RF capabilities to ensure productivity of DC members is effective and efficient
- Monitor and enforce the strict management and flow of goods into and throughout the DC including bin management, put-aways, replenishment tasks, FIFO, carrier pick-up windows
- Maintain an orderly Warehouse and ensure stock is stored in its assigned locations through the implementation and execution of Lean Principles, 5S Programs, and Gemba walks
- Ensure in-bound receiving activities are executed within 24 hours of arrival and/or completion
- Execute a robust inventory cycle count program for all finished goods to ensure inventory accuracy; including identifying and resolving discrepancies between SAP EWM and actual inventory levels
- Audit shipments to ensure Order and Inventory accuracy
- Manage preparation and execution of annual physical inventory
- Responsible for ensuring loads meet the Health & Safety standards and C-TPAT compliance
- Responsible for managing warehouse employees including:
- Coordinating and managing of all daily activities for warehouse team members, ensuring the safety of employees at all times
- Ensuring workload distribution and balance of employee hours are scheduled to meet customer needs
- Assist in the development, training and adherence of DC & HSE initiatives, policies and procedures for all DC operations and team members
- Lead monthly safety and employee stand-up meetings
- Improve staff performance by motivating, coaching, counselling and disciplining employees as required
- Responsible for time and attendance tracking and
- Adhere to all supervisory responsibilities as per Hamilton Kent's policy & procedure for Supervisor
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of a high school diploma or practical equivalency and 5 years+ working experience in a distribution/warehouse environment
- Must be in possession of Forklift Driver Training Certificate
- First Aid Training certificates (WHMIS, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, etc) considered an asset
- Successful candidate must complete a criminal background check for CTPAT / PIP requirements
- Minimum two years in a supervisory role
- SAP-EWM experience an asset
- Experience in a RF environment is a must
- Good working knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook.

KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Collaborates with peers in Customer Service, Sales, Finance, Engineering, Manufacturing and Demand & Supply Planning on a regular basis and speaks to the Sales and Operational Plan. Maintain strong working relationships with Operations Material Handling team members.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
When in the office, physical effort is minimal, as it may require occasional carrying and/or lifting of small objects and walking through the DC, shipping and office areas. There is a considerable amount of sensory attention required. Stress is moderate to high and is created by the need to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
The position performs all office activities; receivers, scheduling pick-ups and deliveries, bills of lading, filing, managing pertinent ERP reports and completing daily/weekly/monthly reports as required.
TRAVEL:
There is no regular travel required for this position but may be required for training and/or offsite team meetings.
