Job Title: Group Benefits and Retirement Advisor

Location: Calgary, AB

Base Salary: $80,000 - $90,000 per year

Position Overview:

Our client, a dynamic and thriving Calgary-based financial services organization, is seeking a Group Benefits & Retirement Advisor to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. Integrating business services includinginvestment management, insurance, financial planning (retirement and estate) and group benefits, thisrapidly growing firm pride themselves on providing clients with comprehensive solutions tailored to their unique needs.

The Opportunity:

This Group Benefits and Retirement Advisor role offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned professional with a talent for relationship management and a strong entrepreneurial drive. In this position, 80% of your focus will be on delivering outstanding service to existing corporate clients, while the remaining time will involve bringing sales opportunities to close within an established book of business working in collaboration with the Senior Partners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess corporate clients' group benefits and retirement needs, providing tailored solutions for comprehensive coverage and long-term security.
  • Manage the renewal process with attention to detail, clear communication, and thoughtful analysis to support client decisions.
  • Oversee the implementation of new group benefit and retirement plans, ensuring smooth and confident transitions.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through proactive engagement and excellent service.
  • Provide prompt, high-quality support to address client inquiries, plan changes, and adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations and organizational policies to maintain professional standards.
  • Create and deliver educational resources to help clients make informed decisions.
  • Monitor performance metrics to maintain high service standards and meet business goals.
  • Develop professional networks within the Calgary community to create new opportunities.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and certifications to maintain expertise.
  • Document client interactions and plan details in the CRM system for efficient service.
  • Identify opportunities to offer additional solutions to existing clients, focusing on their needs.
  • Keep up with industry changes and competitor offerings to enhance client services.
  • Collect and analyze client feedback to improve service and satisfaction continuously.

Job Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience in group benefits and retirement solutions, including 2-3 years in a brokerage role.
  • Valid life insurance license with industry certifications such as GBA, RPA, or CEBS (preferred).
  • Ability and willingness to travel within Southern Alberta (2-3 times a year) to meet with Providers.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain long-term client relationships.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with strong business development skills.
  • Expertise in consultative selling and relationship management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
  • Bachelors degree in business, finance, or a related field.
  • Proficient in industry software and CRM systems.

Compensation:

The role offers a competitive base salary in the range of $80,000 - $90,000 per year (depending on experience). Additionally, this role offers a client retention bonus + commissions, a hybrid work-model (3 days a week in office), vacation + flex days, full health benefits, and group RSP plan!
