Wills & Estates Legal Administrative Assistant

Job Description:

Our client is one of the largest and most diverse law firms in the interior of BC. Their team of successful lawyers provide a full range of legal services in a variety of legal areas.

Our client is looking for a full-time Wills and Estates legal assistant, with at least a year of experience.

Duties include:

Performing administrative duties, including preparing/drafting correspondence, electronic and paper filing, entering dockets, preparation of accounts, photocopying, day to day scanning, faxing, arranging couriers, etc.

Document drafting/preparation of wills, enduring powers of attorney, personal directives.

Preparing applications for the grant of probate and administration of estate files.

Assisting in preparation of estate litigation court submissions.

Trust administration.

Maintaining a bring-forward system, as well as providing appropriate reminders.

Preparing draft Estate Planning documentation; Wills, Primary and Supplementary Wills, Powers of Attorney, affidavits of execution, insurance declarations, letters and reports.

Assisting with Charitable Registrations, Family Trusts, and Incorporations.

Communicating to internal and external parties regarding ongoing file management.

Assisting other lawyers and staff within the Wills and Estates practice group when necessary.

Other duties as required.

Skills/Qualifications:

A minimum of 1-3 years' experience in Wills & Estates.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Excellent organizational, attention to detail and time-management skills.

Ability to prioritize workloads in a fast-paced practice.

Professional attitude who is courteous and client-focused.

Ability to work independently or in a team environment.

Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications
