The Mtis Child and Family Services Authority is an incorporated entity with the responsibility to administer and manage child and family services delivery for Mtis people in Manitoba. The Authority exists to strengthen and support the health and well-being of Mtis families and communities by ensuring the creation and development of Mtis-specific solutions that are responsive and sensitive to our collective history, experiences, culture, and values.
STUDENT ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Hours of Work: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, 37.5 hrs weekly
Classification and Salary: $15.80-$17.80 Hourly
Location: 150 Henry Ave Winnipeg, MB
The Summer Student Employment Program provides career related work experience opportunities for Mtis students through the support of the Manitoba Mtis Federation. Reporting to the Associate Chief Executive Officer (ACEO), the Student Receptionist is responsible for providing a broad array of administrative support including the provision of varied and complex office duties.
ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANTS
Declaration of Mtis. Applicants are encouraged to self-identify in their cover letter.
Must be a student 14+ years old who attended school full-time during the preceding year and who intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the following academic year. (Part time and distance education students do not qualify)
Student(s) 15 years of age & under must complete the Safe Work Manitoba Young Worker Readiness certificate course and provide a copy of the completed certificate before starting work.
Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive and register documents for data collection
Sort and distribute incoming and outgoing forms
Perform clerical duties, such as maintain filing and record systems
Provide back-up coverage to the front reception desk
Perform general office duties, faxing, scanning, etc.
Develop and maintain databases as requested
Photocopy and organize documents, mailing, filing and faxing.
Other duties as related to the position and as reasonably assigned by the supervisor, or as circumstances dictate, all within the context of the MCFSA Mission, Vision, and Guiding Principles as well as a strong and progressive customer service and child welfare orientation.
QUALIFICATIONS
Intermediate MS software skills
Ability to sort and distribute incoming and outgoing forms
Demonstrated understanding of Mtis and Inuit culture and communities
Strong interpersonal skills
Good organizational and time management skills
Advanced communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to maintain highly sensitive and confidential information in all interactions
Ability to work cooperatively within a team environment and independently
Ability to interact with people in a respectful, tactful, diplomatic and professional manner
