Controller
Our client is searching for a Controller to join their team. This role will be responsible for producing accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and identifying and mitigate financial risks. A successful candidate will develop and mentor a finance team of five members while demonstrating and modeling the company's core values of communication, respect, teamwork, accountability, and innovation in all interactions.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Support the day-to-day activities of the accounting department, including unique transactions, financial reporting, and balance sheet management
  • Oversee management and control of inventory held in multiple locations
  • Provide accounting oversight in payroll processes
  • Assist in the management and forecasting of fixed assets
  • Ensure adherence to and enforcement of accounting policies, methods, and principles in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and relevant legislation
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure the accuracy of financial information
  • Conduct internal audits to verify accuracy, compliance, and process integrity
  • Review year-end packages and coordinate with external auditors
  • Streamline systems and processes, identifying opportunities for efficiency and initiating corrective actions when necessary
  • Oversee software selection, implementation, and migration processes to enhance operational effectiveness
  • Collaborate with the Director of Finance to provide financial insights that inform strategic decision-making
Your strengths include:
  • Business Administration or Commerce Degree is required
  • Chartered Professional Accounting Designation is a must
  • 3+ years of experience in a managerial/supervisory role
  • Specific experience in the manufacturing or building supplies sector is preferred
  • Prior major public accounting firm experience is an asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office application, ERP (Business Central), Reporting tools (Solver) and experience with UKG Pro is an asset
  • Willingness to take on a broad range of duties and projects and comfort with a flexible hands-on approach
  • Ability to understand multiple perspectives and influence key stakeholders in a positive manner
