The Opportunity:
The Opportunity:
- This is a procurement for 1 of Business Consultant Level 1 as further described in the Requisition, to work on the Modernization Open Vendor Management System (OpenVMS).
- The Ministry is replacing the functionality of various legacy ministry applications and enabling automation to improve business processes.
- The legacy applications are monolithic applications on end-of-life OpenVMS that must be modernized to better support Ministry and partner needs.
- The Modernization of OpenVMS project is responsible for moving critical functionality away from the aging/retiring OpenVMS platform to new modern solutions, currently utilizing the OpenShift platform.
- Using an Agile, collaborative approach, an experienced, cross-functional team will build the solution iteratively through Sprint cycles.
- Due to the complexity of the system and goals to simplify and automate existing processes, the replacement will consider work already underway or completed through other projects such as the Education Data Exchange (EDX) for Student Level Data Collection, and Personal Education Number (PEN) Modernization projects.
- We will be using the Education Data Exchange as a foundation for the replacement with a vision of enabling secure exchange of information between schools and the Ministry using a microservices and API first approach.
- The Modernization Open VMS project requires a Business Consultant to work with the Ministry to carry out testing of the functionality of a custom application built on OpenShift using a microservices and API first approach for quality and usability and support the business area in performing User Acceptance Testing.
- The Ministry provides leadership and funding to the K-12 system through governance, various acts, legislation, policy, and standards.
- At the centre of many of the most critical applications responsible for ensuring the successful graduation of students, funding of school districts and projects, and data collections is an aging platform, Open VMS.
- Currently, the Ministry has a portfolio of projects underway with the goal of moving the key functionality of the current suite of applications on Open VMS to new and modern solutions that will position the Ministry to be able to react quickly to modern demands, be flexible for the K-12 system, and still complete all necessary functionality required for the Ministry and the K-12 system.
- There is a need to link multiple systems together using a microservices and API first approach and continue to develop functionality of the Ministry s new applications and move away from the Open VMS platform.
- The candidate will consult with Ministry and:
- Attend scrums, daily meetings, and any other meetings as requested by the Ministry;
- Work in an agile environment;
- Program, test, and otherwise support the development and maintenance of systems by conducting:
- Manual testing
- Automated testing
- Development of documentation of test cases
- Creating and orchestrating test scripts using Zephyr
- The Business Consultant Level 1 is a quality assurance specialist that can demonstrate in their submitted examples that they have successfully conducted functional application testing in complex projects with respect to:
- Creation and execution of system integration test scenarios and scripts,
- Development and execution of test scenarios and scripts that may include:
- Functional testing.
- Application testing.
- Security testing.
- Integration.
- End-to-end testing.
- Performance testing.
- Remediation and re-testing.
- Accessibility testing.
- Load / stress testing.
- Volume testing.
- Regression testing, and.
- Automated testing.
- In addition to the skills and experience set out above, the Candidates must demonstrate that they have the following additional skills and experience:
- A degree relevant to the applicable Service Category and a minimum of 4 years of related Service Category experience.
- A diploma relevant to the applicable Service Category and a minimum of 5 years of related Service Category experience.
- A certificate relevant to the applicable Service Category and a minimum of 6 years of related Service Category experience.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience directly related to the applicable Service Category.
- Candidates must also demonstrate that they have the following additional skills and experience in all or most of the following technology tools:
- Jira.
- Confluence.
- Zephyr, and.
- working with the OpenShift Container Platform.
- Candidates not clearly demonstrating that they meet the following mandatory criteria will be excluded from further consideration during the evaluation process.
- The proposal must be received before the Closing Time.
- The proposal must highlight minimum capabilities.
