About the Role: The 3D Custom Product Designer is an integral member of our design team, specializing in the creation of custom mixed media art projects within the hospitality industry. This role involves designing and engineering both large and small-scale art pieces, from in-room artwork to free standing sculptures. The 3D Designer collaborates with our team of designers, our in-house factory, and external manufacturing partners to bring each project from concept through to production. This role requires a blend of innovation, resourcefulness, and teamwork, with a strong focus on managing projects end-to-end while adhering to client briefs and project specifications. Duties: Design Development: * Conceptualization: Develop innovative design concepts for custom mixed media art projects based on client briefs and industry trends. * Apply strong design sense to create compelling visuals that align with client branding and the aesthetic requirements of hospitality spaces. * Produce and refine digital and physical prototypes, ensuring the designs are visually striking and practical for installation. * Work with inhouse designers and project specialists to ensure design concepts are executable, on budget, and meet all deadlines. * Stay current with design trends and incorporate them into new and existing projects to ensure relevancy and innovation. Technical and Execution: * Develop products that are both creative and suitable for mass production while maintaining high artistic standards. * Utilize design software (SolidWorks and KeyShot) to create detailed 3D models and renderings of designs. * Oversee the creation of 3D prototypes, employing methods to refine and validate design concepts. * Produce precise technical drawings for both internal teams and external vendors, ensuring accurate implementation of designs. * Develop comprehensive production instructions and methods to guide the manufacturing of custom-designed products. Skills and Competencies: * Post-secondary education in Industrial Design, Hospitality Design, or a related field; 3-5 years of relevant experience in a design role. * Expert in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop & Illustrator) and experienced with 3D design software (SolidWorks and KeyShot). * Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to transform general concepts into finished, high-quality products. * Strong innovative and problem-solving skills, with a proactive approach to overcoming design challenges. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners. * Familiarity with the manufacturing process, including mixed media artwork techniques such as woodworking, mold making, sculpture, and paint applications. * Ability to think creatively and present versatile design solutions tailored to diverse client needs.
